This week has been a great one. Last Monday we were able to have dinner
with the Castillo family. Sister Castillo's mom was visiting so we got
to talk to her a little bit. They have a son who is on his mission in
Washington DC and he sent her a Book of Mormon with his testimony. So we
tried to help her understand it a little bit, she said she was reading a
little and it was interesting so we will see what happens.
Then we headed out to Brunswick to visit a member family out there. They let us in and we talked to our main man Tony. Somehow every time we have gone over there he gets way way off topic. So we shared a message about how in life we sometimes have to choose in between the good things in life and the better. We brought up sacrifice a little and then Tony started talking. He went off about how people talk all the time but there are some people that know HOW to talk. It was an interesting example but we were both confused. Like last week we shared a video on prayer and somehow he started talking about how there are other people on other planets. It's always a good time with him.
Tuesday we had District Council and Interviews with President Mutombo. It was a good time, President is crazy busy and always running to and from places. But he is such a cool dude. After our meeting we went on exchanges and I was with Elder McDaniel. We had a good time mobbing around together. We got to visit a couple people they are teaching and it was sweet. We taught Omar, it was super cool because on my exchange with Elder Harker we found him walking and started talking to him. He said we could go back and so the others Elders had been teaching him. I was like " hey man I know you haha how have you been?" It was a good time.
Then we went by Diego and Maria and they are super solid. She had some baller questions and was really understanding everything. Like we really didn't have to go back and explain anything she was so on top of it all.
Then we visited with Juan who I think I have gone over and taught 3 times on exchanges. Its always a good time at his house and his dog is so freakin fluffy. It is probably the densest (Most dense) dog ever.
Wednesday we switched back and went over to talk to a referral from the other Elders. His name is Denzel, a 15 year old kid from Honduras. We tried to teach him some English and that went ok haha I never realized how hard it is to teach your own language. Denzel was a little shy like I was trying to ask any question to get him to talk and he was just pretty quiet.
Thursday we did our good 'ol weekly planning and at night we went to the church. The members wanted to meet there and then go out with the missionaries. It was a good activity, we were able to go out with Cesar Salvador and visited Enrique. It was a great lesson. Cesar prayed in English and tried to speak it the whole time. But then he went off in Spanish and bore his testimony. I think it helped Enrique feel the Spirit and he definitely seemed more excited to keep progressing.
Friday it was raining and freezing cold so we walked around and visited Hector, one of the members. he hooked us up with some Chicken wings, like a ton. Then we visited Josue and taught some more English with his and his friends. We have actually got a couple people that are solid and want to learn English so who knows maybe we will make a class or something.
Then Saturday we went out to Damascus to try by some people. Nobody was home so we basically tracted the entire night. Then we stopped at a gas station on the way home to get a snack and go to the bathroom. There were these ladies there and I could hear them speaking a totally different language. Then I heard them say something I totally knew, it was hello in Korean. So shout out to Elder Jun for teaching me how to say "hi" in Korean because I totally used it haha. They were surprised and I was like "Ya thats all I know sorry" But we left a card there and it was a good time.
Yesterday we had church so that was nice. Then we did a Blitz in the Urbana area. basically thats where all the missionaries in the zone go to one area and try to contact as many people there as possible. So we were with Brother Royal and his son Elijah. It was a good night, we basically knocked doors the entire time and nobody let us in haha. Lets just say I am grateful to be in Spanish work. but ya it was a great week and we got some great work done. Love and Miss you all!!
